In order to determine your exact type and degree of hearing loss, your Audiologist will have you complete a <a href=\"https:\/\/hearingsb.com\/hearing-loss\/testing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">comprehensive hearing evaluation<\/a>. After a physical examination and a review of your medical history, you will be given any or all of the following tests:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pure tone testing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bone conduction testing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Speech testing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tympanometry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Acoustic reflex testing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Auditory brainstem response.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Otoacoustic emissions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The results of these tests will determine your degree of hearing loss, which is based on how loud sounds need to be in order for you to hear them. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asha.org\/public\/hearing\/degree-of-hearing-loss\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">American Speech-Language-Hearing Association<\/a>, there are seven degrees of hearing loss. These include normal, slight, mild, moderate, moderately severe, severe and profound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Levels of Hearing Aids<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Hearing aids are usually available in a basic, standard or premium category of technology.
